Compromised, corrupted, or cowed in some way
No matter how good one's intentions, everyone who rises to power in a major political power is compromised, corrupted, or cowed in some way.
Top-level Democrats are not my friends: their first responsibility is to their wealthy class (which is pretty far removed from my not-wealthy class), and to their own careers.
Furthermore:
The Putin-Mossad-Epstein Kompromat Gang (or whoever) did not say to themselves "Let's make the GOP my bitch, the Dems will never know what hit em!"
Instead they parasitized everyone they could infect, from Dems to GOPS to Greens.
Nonetheless, whatever is corrupt in the Dems (or Greens, for those who remember Greens) pales in comparison with the deep and permanently disfiguring damage done to the GOP when the Kompromat Gang slid its the toxic money tubes into the veins of Donald Trump and company.
The parasite found a nice warm cozy place inside the body of the GOP; completely absorbed the upper ranks; and from there, the parasite released Spores of Obedience all down the ranks to the lowest levels of Fox News addicts.
So here we are, all short on breath because America's fucking airwaves (not to mention Elon Musk's "X") are full of Fox News Spores of Obedience, and the streets of America are full of unmarked armored vehicles deploying masked neo-Gestapo troops on innocent citizens, and the President tears down the White House and calls black women "garbage".
We hoped for better.
Weep for us.
