Do you every call someone "retard"? Stop it now, don't ever do it again — if you do, and I find out, our friendship is over.
If fact, if you hear someone else say "retard", and you fail to call them out promptly and loudly, our friendship is damaged until you redeem yourself through good works.

I don't advise that you try this, just take my word for it:
Search for "Tim Walz" on Facebook or Xitter, you will find endless streams of "retard", "retard", "retard" comments ... sometimes with photos edited to give Walz the appearance of Down's syndrome.
I blame Trump, and those who brought Trump to power. The world was ugly before Trump. But Trump *celebrates* ugliness. He and his cult worshippers *revel* in ugliness. Hate is their brand: it gives them unity within the cult.
